Roadrunner Rundown – Herstory!

Roadrunner Families,
I want to start by congratulating our 3rd graders, Special Areas Team and 3rd Grade Team on an outstanding debut of their new program, Herstory. It is hard to overstate how much hard work has gone into this program and it was absolutely amazing way to start the year. From the song selection and choreography to the important messages it shares with our Roadrunners of all ages, it was an awesome achievement. Congratulations to everyone who was involved in making this program come to life.

We recently received notice that AISD has found a new partner for providing Flu Shots this year. Our clinic on campus will be held in the library on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 19th. We will be sending out consent forms next week, but wanted everyone to know that a new provider has been secured. With the flu already arriving earlier than anticipated, it especially important that we be as prepared as possible. We are glad to be able to provide this important service again this year.

As we discussed at our CAC meeting this week, the new addition which will be built where the White House once stood has finally cleared the city permitting process. We will be breaking ground in October and are excited to expand our learning space to better meet the needs of our students. We also debriefed about our school supply collaboration with Austin Creative Re-Use and celebrated the installation of the outdoor water fountain and the Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon, which has allowed for safer passage of students across Red River.

As we are prepare to break ground on our new wing, which will render our south parking lot unusable for much of this school year, we are continuing to encourage families to park off campus at a variety of locations and walk their students in for the day. Please remember to never park in the fire zone immediately in front of the building during restricted hours or the bus zone near the intersection of Harris and Hampton. We want to be good neighbors to everyone who lives in the area surrounding the school, so please abide by all parking regulations. We greatly appreciate everyone’s collaborative approach to adjusting our habits during construction.

Next week is Custodian Appreciation Week. Idania Castillo, Veronica Ramirez, and George Vasquez are a very important part of our Lee Elementary team and do so much for our school and students. Please join us in showing them how much we appreciate all of their hard work.

Lastly, please see the following message from our fantastic counselor, Leah Gilbert about the new Social and Emotional Survey:

Hello all! In an effort to improve our Social and Emotional offerings for parents, we are asking you all to take a short survey. Please use the link below to submit your responses. One response per person. Survey will close October 11th. We appreciate your input!

Have a wonderful weekend,
