PTA Budget Poll – PLEASE VOTE!

On Tuesday morning (at 8 am in the library), we will have our last PTA membership meeting of the year. At that meeting, we are charged with passing a budget for next year. The Board has developed four options; and we are asking you to let us know what you prefer. To find out member preference, we have created a google form. This non-binding survey will be used to determine the most preferred budget option. The option with the highest ranking from this poll will be the one presented for approval at the meeting. There will be discussion and could be amendments to the top choice at the meeting. The survey will be available until 3 pm on Monday, April 6.
All paid members should have received a detailed description of the four options and a link to the survey in an email earlier today. If you did not receive it, please email membership@russellleepta.org.

On Saturday morning we will be holding our annual Bike Rodeo from 9:00 until 12:00 on the covered blacktop. Bicycle Sport Shop will be there to lead our Roadrunners in fun activities and help with bicycle maintenance. The Bike Rodeo is organized by our fantastic Tina Bui in the lead up to Bike To School Day on Wednesday, May 8th.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We have a number of surprises in store for our amazing teachers, so please join us in celebrating the outstanding educators who teach our Roadrunners each and every day. In the lead up to Teacher Appreciation Week a team will be decorating classroom doors on Sunday from 11:00-3:00.

On Monday we will be holding our Blood Drive hosted by the 6th Grade Leadership Institute from 9:00-1:00. The Blood Drive will be in honor of Trey Soto, husband our our special education teacher, Paula Soto. The Bloodmobile will be parked on Hampton Road Monday morning, so please sign up to donate blood here, or call Craig at (512) 206-1316 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome!

Then on Tuesday morning we will host our final PTA Meeting of the year in library at 7:50. We will be voting on the budget for next school year, so please join us for this important meeting. That afternoon we will be celebrating the retirement of our beloved teaching assistant, Bev Brown. Bev has been an important part of our Lee Family for many years with her welcoming spirit and considerate approach to working with students across all grade levels. We will miss her tremendously and look forward to celebrating with her Tuesday afternoon in the library immediately after school. Hope to see you there!

6th Grade Leadership Institute Blood Drive

The 6th Grade Leadership Institute is hosting a blood drive on Monday, May 6, in honor of Trey Soto, husband of our wonderful teacher Mrs. Paula Soto.  It’s to celebrate 3 years of a successful stem cell transplant.  We held this same blood drive 3 years ago when he was going through this treatment for leukemia. Sign up here.

Noche Latina Spring Festival

Parents, our Spring Carnival, Noche Latina, is just around the corner on May 3rd from 5:30-8:00 pm here at Lee Elementary. We have a fun-filled night planned with tons of activities and entertainment geared for all ages.
We need volunteers in various places to make this successful and numerous opportunities for donations of items to the carnival. Please visit the Noche Latina overall Volunteer link here for areas we need help:  https://signup.com/go/kejKhFZ
All proceeds go to supporting our teachers providing Spanish lessons in our own homegrown program at Lee. Should be a fantastic and eventful night for all. Hope to see you there!

May 8 is Bike to School Day!

May 8 is Bike to School Day! Bike to school to get your day off to a great start! And get a treat when you arrive! Volunteers are needed to help with bike trains — a bike-pool version of a carpool. Ideally we’d have parent riders in the front, side and rear. Let Tina Bui know if you can help with the bike train or hand out treats at school: tinabuitx@gmail.com or (512)947-9539.

If you don’t have one, no worries: we’ll have a few spare bikes around so everyone can participate. All welcome!
