News and Announcements
Friday night was an amazing Fall Carnival and such a fun night for our Roadrunners of all ages. I want to thank everyone who attended and all of the volunteers who made it happen. A very special thanks to our carnival organizer, Ann Pelton, and her husband, Matt Moore, who gracefully navigated so many moving parts and challenges to make it one our best carnivals ever. Their hard work and organization brought everything together for such a fun night after weeks and weeks of rain. The evening ended with some of the best costumes we have ever seen, and I want to congratulate first grader Amelia Chen on winning the best overall award for her Amelia Earhart costume. Additional thanks go to Bain Perkins, Amanda Nite, Jess Shaw, Lauren Ross and Medwyn Price for all of their hard work; Snow White for all of her organizational prowess and quick thinking; Cody Coe for preparing the scariest haunted house we have ever had; and Adrienne Doola for overseeing all the ghouls and goblins throughout the night. While it is one of our yearly fundraisers, our Fall Carnival primarily about coming together as a school community and celebrating the fall. Friday night was a wonderful example of that, and I appreciate everyone who helped make it so much fun.
Join me on Tuesday at for our second Principal’s Coffee of the year. We will be meeting in the library from 8:00-9:00 in the morning to discuss a variety of student-related topics. Then on Wednesday it is Halloween. While we will be celebrating in a number of ways throughout the day, students are asked not to wear costumes to school in accordance with AISD policy.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Principal – Russell Lee Elementary School
Please bring an offering, memento or photo of loved ones to share in the school-wide Dia de Los Muertos Ofrenda October 22 – November 2. We will try to have two school-wide altars–one downstairs and one upstairs–in addition to the designated grade-level tables you have seen in previous years. If you would like to help set up the altars, please contact Ashlynn d’Harcourt at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would especially love to hear from you if this observance reflects your own family traditions, though all input and help is appreciated!
