Roadrunner Rundown – Roadrunner Rally

Roadrunner Rundown - Roadrunner Rally

Roadrunner Families,

Roadrunner Rally is in full swing, and I want to thank everyone who has supported us through this important PTA fundraiser. While many schools raise funds through the sale of gift wrap and candy bars, we have three primary fundraisers throughout the course of the year. The first is Roadrunner Rally, which is held at the beginning of each year as a simple opportunity to support our school through a monetary donation of any amount. With our Fall Carnival being free to attend, it is more important than ever to reach our goal during Roadrunner Rally.

In November, we hold the Roadrunner Fun Run, which is an opportunity for members of our extended Lee Family to sponsor a student in their run around our campus. This year will be the first Fun Run for Coach Reyes; and if her work on Marathon Kids is indication, it is going to be our best yet.

Then in the spring, we hold my favorite PTA event of the year, Lee Live. As a live music fan, I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate as a community and support so many of the important things that happen at Lee Elementary. Over the course of the last five years, we have had performances from Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison (the originators of Lee Live), Sarah Sharp, Hayes Carll, and most recently, White Denim! Whether you support our school through donations, volunteering, or simply choosing to entrust us with the education of your Roadrunner, your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you to the organizers of the Roadrunner Rally, Rosemary Stewart and Lisa Hoyt, for all of their work on behalf of the PTA and our school.

Finally, this week we were able to install our much anticipated outdoor water fountain and hydration station! It is located right in front of the mural on our Art portable and features two water fountains and a water bottle filling station. Please help us keep it working well for years to come. Remind your Roadrunner that it should only be used for drinking and that putting sand or rocks in the water fountain will break it. We are grateful to the PTA for the purchase of this this new popular new addition to our campus.

Have a wonderful weekend,

John Hewlett
