Roadrunner Families, Teacher Appreciation Week is underway! I want to start by wishing all of our exceptional educators a very happy Teacher Appreciation Week! In a year unlike any other, I am so proud of their innovation and tireless work on behalf of our students, during our current time away from school and throughout this year. As a member of our school community, I am so appreciative of the ways they have handled the shift to online learning while remaining so connected with students and their families. Our strong sense of community is what is getting so many of us through these difficult times and I want to thank each and every one of our teachers for all they do for our school.
There are a number of surprises in store for our teachers this week and I want to thank everyone who has already been collaborating with our PTA on some innovative ways to show our teachers some love. On Friday we will host our Russell Lee Virtual School-Wide Art Show 2020. Ms. Wilborn has been working hard behind the scenes to catalogue artwork from throughout the year by our Roadrunners. The art show will continue as planned, but now online and will be featuring a Roadrunner Dance Party from 11:30-12:30. A preview of the awesome art show is on it’s way and links to both the the show and the dance party will go out on Friday through Living Tree. See you there!
Lastly, we held our first ever online Kinder Round Up to welcome families to our school community. While it was difficult to not meet our new Roadrunners in person, our team did a fantastic job and it was great to see some familiar faces as well as new smiles. We will make the presentations available for those who were unable to attend and are working on a virtual tour of our school to share with everyone in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your continued support and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any ways that we can be of assistance.
Have a wonderful week,
John Hewlett Principal – Russell Lee Elementary School John.Hewlett@Austinisd.org @LeeRoadrunners
