Roadrunner Rundown – Kinder Round Up and Teacher Appreciation Week!

April 29, 2020

Roadrunner Families,
Calling all Roadrunners! On Tuesday, May 5th we will hold an online Kinder Round Up to welcome the families of next year’s kindergarteners to Russell Lee Elementary School. This Round Up will feature presentations from our Leadership Team, our Office Team and our Kindergarten Team followed by a live question and answer session for all participants. To accommodate the schedules of our incoming families, there will be two sessions, one at 10:00 am and the other at 2:00 pm. Unlike our traditional Kinder Round Up, incoming students do not need to attend this event, as it is geared toward providing important information to parents and guardians. Registration is required and can be completed by following this link We will make the presentations available in the future for those unable to attend and look forward to welcoming all kinder families to our school. Please help us spread the word!

Tomorrow is Poem in Your Pocket Day where we will be celebrating the final day of National Poetry Month! On Friday we are inviting all students to join us in our Virtual Lee Creates Release Party. We are taking new submissions and will post the digital editions of Lee Creates from the Winter and Spring.  Mrs. Wilborn will also be adding Art from the Padlet students have been using to share their art over the past few weeks. It’s not to late to be included, so please send a video or other presentation model of something you have created – Poem, Story, Informational Report, Song (instrumental and/or vocal), Art pieces – models, drawings, paintings, photos.  Include your name, teacher’s name and grade and read your writing, sing or play your song, or describe your Art. Please no more than 2 submissions per student. Send your video or other presentation model to Ms. Sileo and Mrs. Day – mailto: mailto: by tomorrow, Thursday, April 30 at 3:00.

Lastly, next week is Teacher Appreciation Week and we are working on some innovative ways to celebrate our awesome teachers. We will be collaborating with our PTA on some ways to show our teachers how much we appreciate them all year long, but especially in these challenging times. Please join us in celebrating our outstanding educators and don’t hesitate to reach out to teachers individually with a simple note of thanks.

Have a wonderful week,

John Hewlett
