Roadrunner Rundown – Geography Day!

January 17, 2020

Roadrunner Families,

I want to start by congratulating this year’s Russell Lee Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year, Alex Hubbard! Alex is a tremendous part of the success of our 6th Grade Leadership Institute where he teaches Science and Language Arts. He has been part of the Lee Family for ten years and is an innovator in his work with students and staff. Please join us in congratulating Mr Hubbard!

As a reminder, we will not have school on Monday, January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Our monthly CAC meeting will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 in the library. We will review our annual Texas Academic Performance Report, discuss updates about our pedestrian safety initiatives and hear from the new president of the Hancock Neighborhood Association.

Our eagerly anticipated Geography Day will take place next Friday, January 24th. There are a number of new countries this year and we are so excited to learn about different cultures from around the world.
Kindergarten – Tibet
1st Grade – Ghana
2nd Grade – India
3rd Grade – Argentina
4th Grade – Tunisia
5th Grade – Ireland
6th Grade – Japan
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time and resources to help provide this unique educational experience for our Roadrunners.

Have a wonderful weekend,

John Hewlett
Principal – Russell Lee Elementary School
