Roadrunner Rundown – Celebrations!

December 15, 2019

We are less than one week from the start of our winter break, which begins at the end of school on Thursday. There is no school on Friday and our Roadrunners will return on Wednesday, January 8th after our teachers have taken part in two days of important professional development. This week we will have three opportunities for families to see our winter holiday program, Celebrations. There will be a grandparents show on Tuesday at 1:30, which does not require tickets and then on Wednesday, we will have to showings, one at 6:00 and another at 7:15. Students are asked to be a part of both performance and will be fed in their classrooms. Tickets are free and can be found here:

In conjunction with Celebrations, Amigos de Russell Lee will be hosting their annual dinner in the cafeteria. We still need volunteers to bring and/or serve food for this school-wide potluck. We will start setting up at 4:00pm and serve from 5:00p until the food runs out.  Those who volunteer to serve food will receive priority seating for the Celebrations performance, so please sign up to lend a hand at this festive community gathering:

For those of you who have not heard, I am sad to share that our beloved custodian, Idania Castillo suffered a stroke last Monday. She made it successfully through emergency surgery and is currently recovering at Dell Seton Hospital. We have been able to visit her and her family and tell them how much she means to all of us at Lee. We will keep you posted on her condition and the ways we can support Idania and her family going forward.

Lastly, on Monday we were fortunate enough to celebrate Bettie Mann Day with a special visit from Ms. Mann. She spent time sharing stories and reading books to our kindergarteners who spend their days in the wing that bears her name. It was a wonderful way to celebrate a very special day.

Have a wonderful week,

John Hewlett
