Roadrunner Rundown – Lotería Night!

October 10, 2019

Roadrunner Families,
This Rundown is coming your way a little bit early this week to remind you that there is no school tomorrow or Monday as we work on professional development and hold conferences to update families on their student’s progress. I also want to extend an invitation to all of you to our Loteria Night which will be taking place in our cafeteria from 6:00 until 8:00 tonight. This fun event is free of charge and with popcorn and paletas, it is the perfect way to kick off the four day weekend.

Our school flu shot clinic will be held on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 19th. We will be sending home consent forms today and they can be downloaded from the attachment to this document. With the flu arriving earlier than anticipated, it especially important that we be as prepared as possible. We are glad to be able to provide this clinic again this year and encourage all families to take advantage of this public health initiative.

As I mentioned last week, we underwent an attendance audit and I want to update everyone on our new system. All exterior doors will be locked at 7:45 am except the main entrance. Students who are not in the classroom at 7:45 when the bell rings will need to sign in with office staff for a “Tardy Token”. These “Tardy Tokens” will be turned in to the teacher verifying the student has been signed in with the office staff. Mrs. Garza and Mrs. Sanchez will be in the main hallway signing in tardy students at the Tardy Stand and Round Table until the end of morning announcements. Following announcements late arrivals will need  stop by the front office to sign in and get a “Tardy Token”. Please help us make sure all students get to class on time each and every morning.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone who supported the important work at our school through the recent Roadrunner Rally. Through your widespread generosity we were able to surpass our fundraising goal and offset the costs of events like our Fall Carnival, which will be taking place on Friday, October 25th. Special thanks go to Rosemary Stewart, Lisa Hoyt, and Medwyn Price for all of their hard work and organization on behalf of our school.

Have a wonderful weekend,

John Hewlett
