Roadrunner Rundown – Mother’s Day

May 12, 2019

Roadrunner Families,
We are in the final stretch of the school year and I want to make sure all of you are aware of some important end of year information. Next week we will be administering the STAAR test. On Monday it is the Math STAAR for 3rd, 4th, & 6th grades. On Tuesday, those grade levels will be taking the Reading STAAR. Then on Wednesday our 5th graders will be taking their Science STAAR. Please remember that there are no visitors on campus during testing days. On Thursday afternoon we will have the retirement party for everybody’s favorite Art Teacher, Ms. Kennedy. Then on Friday we will hold our first ever Russell Lee Elementary Comic-Con. The following week is the last week of school. Our 6th Grade Leaders will present their Shakespeare Program on Tuesday the 21st. On Thursday, 2nd grader Brodie Fraser will be joining us as Principal for the Day and then Friday the 24th will be the last day of school with our 6th Grade Graduation taking place that morning. All are invited to join us for the unofficial end of year celebration at the triangle immediately after school.

Thank you to everyone who participated in some of the fun activities of the last week. Congratulations to Amigos de Russell Lee on an exciting Noche Latina. Thanks to all the volunteers who made it a great night for our Correcaminos, especially Ruta Bertulis, Alex Arguello, Kandy Savitsky, Jim Marcus, and William Biggs. Our Bike Rodeo on Saturday was a blast! Thank you to Tina Bui for organizing this fun and educational event. A huge thank you to all of you who helped appreciate our amazing teachers this week, especially Dana Stauffer, Lisa Hoyt, Leigh Ann McGehee, and Rosemary Stewart. We feel so fortunate to be part of a community that places such a high priority on the celebration of educators. Thank you all so much!

Lastly, I want to wish a happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in the Lee Family, especially Jane Hewlett who reads all of my newsletters. I love you mom and I hope you have magnificent Mother’s Day.

Have a wonderful weekend,

John Hewlett
