Roadrunner Rundown – Mexico Program & Noche Latina

April 27, 2019

Roadrunner Families,
I want to start by congratulating our new PE Teacher, Alyssa Reyes on a fantastic first Lee Olympics. While this was the 34th annual Lee Olympics, Coach Reyes was able to put her own stamp on one of our favorite days of the year and make it a great experience for everyone. Thank you to Lauren and Jacob Ross and their team of volunteers who helped our Roadrunners fuel up during a very active day. I also want to thank Nick Arthur, who organized our Roadie Work Day, Tom Yankeelov and Jack Virostko who helped set up for Lee Olympics and very importantly, the members of Girl Scout Troop 382 who installed the very popular Gaga Pit on our playground as their legacy project.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank Bao-Tran Pham for putting together our first ever Russell Lee Elementary yearbook! The yearbook is out and looks awesome. She is working to distribute it to everyone who pre-ordered, but copies are available for purchase here. The hardcover version is recommended.

Congratulations to our new PTA Executive Board for next year:
President: Sara Bircher, 2nd and 5th
Vice President: Paola Bueche, 2nd
Secretary: Tina Bui, K
Treasurer: Melanie Tolen, 3rd
Membership Vice President: Raven Brown, 3rd and 6th
Fundraising: Medwyn Price, 2nd
Enrichment: Amy Woiwode, 3rd
Communications: Elizabeth Bangs, 2nd and K
I also want to recognize our Parent Volunteer of the Year, Snow White and our Parent Ambassador of the Year, Paola Bueche. Both have worked countless hours on behalf of our school and students.

Next week our 2nd graders will be presenting their Mexico Program on Thursday at 9:00 am and then again at 7:00 pm. Then on Friday, please join us for Noche Latina presented by Amigos de Russell Lee. While this spring carnival is free to attend, there will be fantastic food available for purchase and all proceeds will go toward offering Spanish language instruction at our school. Five years ago, Noche Latina was my first event as new principal at Lee and always serves as a fun and festive way to celebrate with students and their families. We hope you will join us next Friday evening for this important event.

Have a wonderful weekend,

John Hewlett
Principal – Russell Lee Elementary School
