Book Fair and Maker Fair!!!

Great turnout for out Spring Book Fair!  Thank you!!!

In addition to your children getting great books to read, your support is providing more than 180 books for the library and almost $1200.00 for the Library budget in the PTA.  That is a little less than what we usually get from Scholastic, but I think the quality of the books, both story and physically seemed to be better.  AND not as many toys attached to books.  I’m leaning toward contracting with them (Follett) for next year’s book fair.  If you have an opinion one way or the other please let me know – jcday@austinisd.org

Well, now onto the next thing.  Thursday, March 28th will be our School-wide Art Show and MakerFair!  We will have Maker activities in the cafeteria, Student Art displayed down the main hall, and tables for you to show us What You Make.  If you or your child are interested in Showing us What You Make.  Please contact me at jcday@austinisd.org.  In the past we’ve had kids make Slime, sew pouches, show us family trees, sketchbooks, make stuff on 3d printers, show off their robot skills.  We’ve had parents and grandparents show us thier handmade pillows and wooden toys.  Good time to Network or let your kids show off their genius skills.

I hope to email overdue notices this weekend so you have enough time to look for them over the break.

Trying out a Crayon Melter for the Maker Fair – if you have old crayons at home – please send them to the library.

Thank you for all your support and have a fantastic Spring Break!!!
