It’s Been a Busy Week!

We continue to work on sight words as well as reading fluency and handwriting. We are now learning three new sight words per week. Please help your child practice these at home.
Our sight words so far are had, runhas, big, didday, will, as, said, younot, get, look, my, mom, dad, up, it, I, A, go, at, to, am, me, see, can, is, like, the, red, blue, yellow, green, orange, brown, and pink .

Science – Manning

This week we learned ways to tell if something is living or nonliving. The students learned that to be living an object must be able to grow, change, take in nutrients, and reproduce.

Science – Gonzales

We started our animal unit this week. We learned that all animals eat, move, reproduce, grow, and change. All animals live in a habitat.

Spanish – Stanfield

We are learning about farm animals in Spanish class this week. We sang and danced to a song called, “Vengan a ver mi granja.” You can find it on you tube.

100th Day of School

The 100th Day of school is coming up.  We are asking each child to bring at least one canned food item to donate to a food pantry.  We hope to collect 100 or more cans from the combined kindergarten classes.  We will continue to collect cans until February 1st, the 100th day.

100th Day Trail Mix

On the 100th day of school we will be making a “100 trail mix.”  The children will count out 10 of each of the following items in order to make a snack with 100 pieces.  Please let your child’s teacher know if you can donate any of these snacks.

We will need them by Thursday, January 31st.

1 bag of pretzel sticks

1 large box of rice chex  cereal

1 large box of corn chex cereal

1 large bag of plain m&ms

1 large bag of butterscotch chips

Lee Live!

What is Lee Live?   It is a fun evening for adults to dance to great music, eat yummy food and socialize with friends and neighbors. Historically, kindergarten is the least represented grade in attendance. We want to change that this year! We would like for the Lee Live venue to be bursting at the seams with kindergarten parents.

If you are new to Lee this is a great opportunity to meet fellow Roadrunners while helping to support the many amazing things going on at our little school.  Save the date – Saturday, March 2nd and join us at Springdale Station for what will be an awesome night of live music and celebration.
