Roadrunner Rundown – PTA Meeting

August 31, 2018

Roadrunner Families,
As you probably saw last week, Coach Huff will be retiring at the end of the semester. In his time at Lee, Dave has had a tremendous impact on our students and their long term physical fitness. He is a true roadrunner role model, who has led by example in his fourteen years as our P.E. Teacher. We feel very fortunate to have him at Lee for what will be a fantastic final semester. Plans are already in the works for our annual Roadrunner Fun Run in late November that will serve as a fitting final lap for Coach Huff and his inspiring career at Lee.

Next Tuesday we will hold our first PTA Meeting of the year at 7:50 am in the library. Please join us for what will be an informative introduction to an eventful year. If you have not already signed up for the PTA, I highly encourage you to do so. The important work of our PTA is the reason we have so many programs that make our school the special place that it is. Whether it is our full time Math Specialist, Dyslexia Specialist, or the amazing amount of professional development funds utilized by our staff every year, none of it would be possible without the support of our PTA. Our goal is to have one adult per student signed up for this year, for a total of just over 440 members. Please use this link http://www.joinpta.org/ to sign up under Russell Lee Elementary today and we will see you Tuesday morning!

Parent Forum will be held next Thursday, September 6th from 6:30-7:00 pm. Parent Forum is our adult-only Back to School Night where teachers present important information about what to expect through the course of the year. There will be two half-hour sessions, one at 6:30 and the other at 7:00, which will repeat the same information for those of you with Roadrunners in more than one grade level.

Lastly, I want to thank 2nd grade parent, Tom Yankeelov who has helped get our athletic field to the best it has looked in years. He painted the soccer goals, added new nets, replaced the basketball hoop and has helped with the overall vision for what our outdoor facilities can be. We greatly appreciate all of his efforts.

Please remember that there is no school on Monday in observance of Labor Day.

Have a wonderful three-day weekend,

John Hewlett
