It’s Been a Busy Week
We are continuing to establish routines this week. In Writing Workshop we are working on stamina or writing the whole time. Our mantra is – When your done, you’ve just begun – add color, letters, words, labels, and more detail.
We will be introducing sight words each week. Please help your child learn these words by having him/her pick them out of stories your read or environmental print. Our words this week are I, a, to, red, and blue.
Science – Gonzales
We learned that scientists investigate, observe, predict, measure, record, and discuss. We tried out all of these in our first experiment – mixing colors.
Science – Manning
We learned that science is learning about the world around us. We also learned that a person who learns about and discovers new things is a scientist…so we are scientist!!!
Spanish – Stanfield
Our Spanish class this week started with the children looking at a globe and discussing the many languages spoken in various parts of the world. We decided to learn Spanish together since our closest neighbor, Mexico, speaks Spanish. We will be learning basic greetings, numbers, and colors for the next few weeks.
Parent Forum –
Please plan to attend Parent Forum on Thursday, September 6th. We will meet in Mrs. Manning’s room where we will give a brief overview of our program from 6:30-7:00 and then answer questions from 7:00-7:30. This is a time for parents to learn about the year so please plan other arrangements for your child as there will be no childcare available.
