Muchas gracias to everyone who came out for Noche Latina on Friday and supported
Spanish language instruction at our school. Along with our Family Fitness Night we had a great turnout and raised important funds for our Spanish program. Congratulations to all of our Correcaminos who competed for the Spirit Stick with their festive grade level booths. This year’s winners were 4th grade with their Pok-Ta-Pok themed booth and playing field. Atash lived up to their reputation, delivering a fantastic live music performance and our Roadrunners worked on their fitness goals with Coach Huff in the gymnasium. I want to thank Jim Marcus, Snow White, Susie Roselle, Alex Arguello, Cody Coe, Kandy Savitsky, Annaliese Bretch, Susanne Pringle, Dan Rodney and all the other Amigos who lent a hand to make it such a great Noche!
This Sunday, May 20th there will be a visitation at Weed Corley Fish on North Lamar from 3:00-5:00 pm for Archie Clayton, husband of former Lee principal, Dr. Mary Lou Clayton. The memorial service will be on Monday, May 21st at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to support Dr. Clayton and her family during this difficult time.
Next week is the last full week of the school year. Please join us for our last grade level performance of the year as our 6th graders present their Shakespeare Program on Thursday at 7:00 pm. The last day of school will be Wednesday, May 30th. All are invited to the unofficial end of year party that takes place every year in The Triangle at the convergence of Guadalupe Street and North Lamar Boulevard.
Lastly, I want to share some share information about next year and the way that classes will be structured. After careful consideration, we have decided that Second Grade will be team teaching in pairs. Ms. Clinchard and Ms. Szilagyi will be a paired team and Ms. Osborn and Ms. Nokes will be a paired team. They will be dividing math/science and language arts/social studies respectively. Third Grade will not be departmentalized next year. Each third grade teacher, Ms. Barreiro, Ms. Hickey and Mr. D’Erasmo will be teaching all subjects to their students. Fourth Grade will be team teaching in pairs. Ms. Cox and Ms. Rolling will be a paired team and Ms. Mullane and Ms. Jones will be a paired team. They will also be dividing math/science and language arts/social studies respectively. These changes are designed to set the course for the highest level of academic success at each grade level and the other grade levels will remain in their current formats. Each teacher will continue to implement morning meetings, social emotional learning lessons and Spanish language instruction will continue across all grade levels. We look forward to a phenomenal year for all of our Roadrunners.
Have a wonderful weekend,
