Roadrunner Rundown – Go to 11

March 2, 2018

Roadrunner Families,
We are just hours away from the raddest Lee Live ever! Break out your leg warmers and parachute pants because it is going to be a night to remember at Saengerrunde Hall! Our 11th annual Lee Live is officially sold out, but before you fall victim to a scalper like that time outside the Duran Duran show, send me an email at and we will try to find you a ticket or two. Lee Live is our biggest fundraiser of the year and makes so many things possible at our school. Without the proceeds from this one amazing event, we wouldn’t have a half time Math Specialist, Reading Specialist or full time Assistant Principal. The impact that these amazing educators have on the daily basis for our students cannot be overstated. There are so many outstanding auction items that you won’t want to miss. We look forward to celebrating with all of you in support of our awesome school.

It has been an exciting week in 5th grade with multiple events going on. At the beginning of the week, Mrs. Gilbert took some of our students to a Leadership Symposium at The Blanton Museum. At this symposium, they discussed what it means to be an agent of change for social justice and how to make connections while considering someone else’s perspective. On Tuesday, all of our 5th grade Roadrunners took part in a training from the Anti-Defamation League on how to be an ally. It was a half day training which covered how to create a safe place while acknowledging and celebrating our own identity. Thank you to the PTA for funding this wonderful training for our kids!
Next Tuesday we will have our monthly PTA meeting immediately after morning announcements in the library. Then on Thursday, March 8, there will be a Counselor’s Coffee about grief. We will have a speaker from the Christi Center here to share about their services and discuss how we can help our children cope with grief. That evening our 4th graders with present their Texas Program at 7:00 pm. Their performance will be preceded by our 5th grade Pizza Sale at 5:00 on the sport court and our Open House for grades 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th that begins at 6:00. We hope you are able to join us.

Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate Childcare Appreciation Week. We are incredibly fortunate to have Gloria and our Childcare Team here at Lee. We are grateful to all who helped us show how much we appreciate all they do for our Roadrunners.

Lastly, we are very excited to welcome Stephanie Garza to our Office Team. She will be serving as our new Registrar and work with students and families on attendance. Please stop by the office to welcome to welcome Stephanie to the Lee Family.

Have a wonderful weekend,
