We are sending out this week’s newsletter early so that all families are aware of the Celebration of Life Service for Lee parent, Robert Young that is taking place this Saturday, February 3, from 9:30–11:00am. The service will be at Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum – 605 Robert E Lee Rd, Austin, TX 78704 http://www.umlaufsculpture.org/ Rob was beloved here at Lee for so many reasons and his loss has been felt throughout our school community. Please note that children are welcome to attend services and reception. More information is available at http://www.thestoryofrob.com/service/ After the Celebration of Life at Umlauf, please join us at Jack and Terry Lieberknecht’s house, 1602 Patterson Rd (not Lane), 78733 from 1:00 – 5:00pm for storytelling, food, and drink. Guests are asked to please park on the street, but avoid parking in front of the neighbors at 1603. Also, in lieu of flowers, please visit the Support Page for ideas on how to honor Rob and help support his family.
Next week is Counselor Appreciation Week. We are incredibly fortunate to have Ms. Leah Gilbert as our counselor here at Lee. She continually goes above and beyond on behalf of our students and their wide variety of social-emotional needs. Leah has been the guiding force of so many signature programs and events here at Lee that benefit our Roadrunners. Please help us celebrate our phenomenal counselor!
Speaking of great events that Ms. Gilbert brings to Lee, next week we will host our first annual, Whole Child Family Night on Tuesday, February 6th. The event begins with an orientation in the cafeteria at 5:45pm, followed by SEL rotations from 6:00 until 7:00. Come experience whole child and SEL activities and lessons from your child’s classrooms! Children are invited to participate with their parents in the activities, but child care will be available for Whole Child Night and the evening PTA meeting that begins immediately after at 7pm. Please contact Leah Gilbert at firstname.lastname@example.org. with any questions. We hope to see there on Tuesday.
