Roadrunner Families,

On Friday we celebrated Geography Day, our annual event where students have the opportunity to spend the day “visiting” and learning more about one of seven countries. It is such a special day and I love to see the many connections that our Roadrunners make to the cultures they are experiencing through different fun and educational activities. Of all the wonderful things that happen during Geography Day, my favorite thing is seeing the connections that our students make with one another. Because students from every grade level are together in the different countries, it is an opportunity for students to spend time with fellow Roadrunners who they might not have met before or reconnect with friends of different ages. By the end of the long day, our students have become connected to one another in a way that is wonderful to see and experience. A heartfelt thanks to all of our teachers, staff and parent volunteers who make this special day possible.

Next week is another busy one. On Monday morning we will host our annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony at 8:30 am. All current and former members of our nation’s armed forces are invited to join us in front of the school. On this Veteran’s Day Weekend, I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who served our country. On Tuesday afternoon we will hold our monthly CAC meeting in the library. On Wednesday we will have our next Counselor’s Coffee with a focus on helping families learn more about middle school options. On Thursday our 1st Graders will present their First Thanksgiving Program during the day and at 7:00 pm for families. Then on Friday it is our 2nd annual Roadrunner Fun Run!!

The Roadrunner Fun Run is an opportunity for our students to celebrate fitness and is a fundraiser is geared towards all of our extended Lee family, friends, and neighbors that want a way to contribute to our school, but would rather not purchase wrapping paper or candy bars. The funds raised will be put towards outdoor improvements, including the track and field, in addition to the installation of an outdoor water fountain! All students will be participating in the Fun Run during their special areas time and family members are invited to come join in the fun or volunteer: We are asking all students to register here: There will be individual prizes for all participants and the class and grade level that raise the most funds will have a pizza party with me and extra recess for a week. Also, If we reach our school goal I will brave the chicken coop for the night during the Community Camp Out event on December 1st. Please join in the effort and help us make some much needed improvements to our campus.

On Tuesday of this past week the AISD Bond passed by a large margin. This bond will make a tremendous difference in the lives of so many students across our large school district. Thank you to everyone who voted.

Have a wonderful weekend,
