Roadrunner Rundown – Easter Weekend

April 14, 2017

Roadrunner Families,
I would like to start by sharing news of the joyful arrival of Addison Charles Muehling, who was born on Thursday, April 13th! He weighed in at nine pounds, three ounces and is 22 inches long. Congratulations to Kris and Adam! We are so excited to welcome Addison to the Lee Family.

Each year we partner with Austin Partners In Education or APIE to recognize some of the many people who make Lee such a special place through their volunteer efforts. This year, our Parent Volunteer of the Year is Bonnie Brantley. Bonnie is the parent of a member of our 6th Grade Leadership Institute and has logged an impressive 235 volunteer hours through the course of the year. Bonnie works tirelessly to make Lee feel like home, whether she is making copies or spreading the word about great things at our school. Our Ambassador of the Year is Allan Cole. Allan has a 5th grader and a 3rd grader and has made a tremendous contribution to Lee as our PTA President. He also works closely with Ms. Gilbert on a highly beneficial mentoring program that pairs our students with students from The University of Texas. Mentor of the Year is awarded to Julie Delarosa. Julie is a UT student and member of our collaborative mentoring program. She has mentored 5 students at Lee this year. Congratulations to these three and THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who make our school such a special place.

Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate Librarian Appreciation Week this past week. It was nice to see such an outpouring of love for Ms. Day throughout the week. I also want to thank those who came out for our Roadie Work Day last Saturday. It was a small group, but we were able to accomplish quite a bit thanks to all of their hard work. Specifically I’d like to thank Mac Redmon, the Bishop Family, the Stewart Family, the Rocha Family, the Young Family, and as always, Tom Manning who rarely misses an opportunity to lend a hand in making our campus a better place.

Lastly, I want to remind everyone that Lee Olympics is coming up this next Friday. Kinder, 1st and 2nd grades will compete in the morning following our Opening Ceremonies. 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades will compete in the afternoon. More information on the schedule can be found on the Lee website. We hope to see you all there!

Have a wonderful weekend,
